The Association of Black Communicators had the amazing opportunity to attend the Manship Hall of Fame Gala on October 24, 2013 as a part of the Manship School of Mass Communication Centennial Celebration.

Members mixed and mingled outside the ballroom of the Renaissance Hotel for the networking hour. Attendees included professionals from multiple career areas and even some of the panelists from the Centennial Kickoff Panels from earlier in the day.

Upon arriving, there was a networking hour set up in the hallway near the lobby, giving students and professionals time to intermingle and meet. Guests were then welcomed into the ballroom, where they were seated at beautifully set tables, lined with salads, beverages and desserts.

The ceremony began with Mayor Kip Holden introducing The Reveille Seven, the first of four inductees for the night. The others who followed were Dan Borne (voice of LSU Athletics), the late Kevin Patrick Reilly (former executive officer of Lamar Advertising and 16-year member of the Louisiana House of Representatives) and Jay Perkins (Manship School journalism professor).

The ceremony ended with honoring the inductees of the past years. ABC’s very own advisor, Dr. Jinx Broussard, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1990 and received recognition.
